A structure can tell many stories and it is one good way to preserve a moment in time. By looking at the architecture of a building, one can tell its influences and the period it was built in. Some of these buildings have even become symbols of bygone eras. A monument on the other hand, will remind us of famous people or events.

In Malaysia, the Petronas Twin Towers (currently the tallest buildings in the world at 452 metres) symbolise the rapid progress of the country while colonial-style structures like the Sultan Abdul Samad building are admired for their beautiful design.

Interesting structures like the leaning clock tower, which is our local version of Italy’s leaning tower of Pisa, can be found in Teluk Intan (Perak). There’s also the unique Mercu Tanda, one of Putrajaya’s landmarks.

Meanwhile, you’ll find many other monuments/ buildings around the country such as mosques, churches, temples, statues, towers and palaces – Istana Negara along Jalan Istana is a must-see when in KL. These are but a few of the sights and for those who enjoy architecture, your visit to Malaysia will be a rewarding one.
